England are not getting Foden at the beginning of the League of Nations
England played a push before the start of the UEFA Nations League campaign. Forward Phil Foden dropped out of the first two matches of the team as Kovid-19 was positive.
England will play their first match in Group A of the A-League in Hungary on Saturday. The 1986 World Cup winners will then face Germany in Munich on Tuesday.
England coach Gareth Southgate told a news conference on Friday that Foden had contracted the coronavirus. The coach is hopeful that the 22-year-old will be available for the return match against Italy and Hungary on home soil.
Foden had a great 2021-22 season for club Manchester City. He was instrumental in the team winning the Premier League. He has 14 goals in all competitions and 11 assists next to his name.
Goals and assists, in both cases in the outgoing season, except for Foden, only two players can go to the double digits for City – Kevin de Bruyne (19 goals and 14 assists) and Gabriel Jesus (13 goals and 11 assists).
